Dr. Carool Kersten is an expert in the Study of Islam and the Muslim World. He's currently a Research Professor of Islamic Studies, at University of Leuven, Belgium. In addition, he is a research associate at the Institute for Philosophical Studies of the Science and Research Centre Koper (ZRS) in Slovenia. He was affiliated with the Institute for Middle Eastern Studies at King's College London. Also, he is a former guest lecturer at the Institute of Ismaili Studies, associate lecturer at the Open University in the UK, and an instructor at the Center for Graduate and International Studies at Payap University in Thailand. Carool Kersten is the author and editor of eleven books on Islam, history, and philosophy. He appears regularly as a commentator on developments in the Muslim world in the international media.
