Focus and Scope

Egalita publishes articles based on empirical research, conceptual analysis, literature reviews, and fieldwork that explore issues related to gender and children, highlighting both academic insights and lived realities. The journal welcomes original contributions that address, but are not limited to, the following topics:

  • Gender, Development, and Human Rights
  • Gender and Religion
  • Gender and Culture
  • Gender and Law
  • Gender and Economy
  • Gender and Education
  • Gender and Health
  • Gender and Children

Interdisciplinary approaches and comparative studies are particularly encouraged, especially those that advance gender equality, social justice, and empowerment through critical and inclusive academic inquiry.

Peer Review Process

Peer Review Process and Editorial Decision

All submitted articles undergo a double-blind peer review process. Each manuscript is initially evaluated by the editorial staff. Articles deemed inappropriate to the journal's criteria are rejected promptly without external review. Articles considered to be of potential interest to the journal's readership are sent to double-blind peer reviewers. Articles submitted to Egalita are reviewed by experts in Gender studies from several universities. Based on the reviewers' recommendations, the editors make one of the following decisions: rejected, require major revision, require minor revision, or accepted. The editor of Egalita has the right to decide which manuscripts submitted to the journal should be published.

To be published in this journal, a paper should meet the following general criteria:

  • The submitted article must be original, unpublished work, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  • The article provides strong evidence to support its conclusions.
  • The manuscript should present research results or literature studies in the field of Gender.
  • The article should be of interest to researchers in Gender studies and related disciplines.

In general, to be acceptable, the article should represent an advance in understanding likely to influence thinking in the field. There should be a discernible reason why the work deserves the visibility of publication in Egalita rather than the best of the specialist journals. 

Review Process: 
1. Article Submission; The author submits the manuscript through the journal’s online submission system.
2. Editor Evaluation; The editor evaluates the submitted article. Some articles may be rejected or returned before the review process. If the content and format are considered appropriate, the article will be sent for double-blind peer review by two independent reviewers.
3. Double-Blind Peer Review Process; In this process, the authors do not know the identity of the reviewers, and the reviewers do not know the identity of the authors.
4. Editor Decision; Based on the reviewers’ comments, the editor makes a decision. Articles requiring revision must be returned to the editor without delay. Revised manuscripts submitted more than three months later will be considered new submissions.
5. Notification to Authors; The editorial decision is communicated to the authors.

 

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

All articles published in this journal are immediately and permanently free to read and download. We continuously work with our author community to ensure the best licensing options. Currently, this journal uses the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0).

 

Archiving

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) system to support the long-term preservation and continued accessibility of its published content. LOCKSS creates a distributed archiving system among participating libraries, allowing them to maintain permanent archives of the journal for preservation and restoration purposes.

Publication Frequency

This journal is published twice in one year, namely in June and December.

 

 

Article Processing Charge

There is no submission fee, but publication fee applies in our journal. Authors are required to pay an article processing charge (APC) upon acceptance.

Plagiarisme Policy

Plagiarism Screening

Plagiarism Includes But is Not Limited to:

  • Refer and/or quote terms, words and/or sentences, data and/or information from a source without citing sources in the record citation and/or without stating the source adequately;
  • Refer and/or quote random terms, words and/or sentences, data and/or information from a source without citing a source in the record citation and/or without stating the source adequately;
  • Using a source of ideas, opinions, views, or theory without stating the source adequately;
  • Formulate the words and/or sentences themselves from the source of words and/or phrases, ideas, opinions, views, or theory without stating the source adequately;
  • Submit a scientific paper produced and/or published by others as sources of scientific work without being expressed adequately.

Prevention

Egalita Jurnal Keadilan dan Kesetaraan Gender will ensure that every published article will not exceed a 25% similarity score. Plagiarism screening will be conducted by Egalita Jurnal Keadilan dan Kesetaraan Gender using Turnitin.

Sanctions

  • Reprimand;
  • Letter of warning;
  • Revocation of the article;
  • Cancellation of publication.

 

Generative AI Statement

Egalita Jurnal Kesetaraan dan Keadilan Gender recognizes that Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) technologies can assist authors in improving the clarity and presentation of scholarly manuscripts. However, the use of GenAI must not compromise academic integrity, originality, or scholarly responsibility.

Authors must disclose any use of Generative AI or AI-assisted technologies in the preparation of their manuscript, including drafting, editing, language refinement, data analysis, or content generation. Such disclosure promotes transparency and supports the integrity of the editorial and peer-review process.

The authors remain fully responsible for the originality, accuracy, interpretation, and conclusions of their work. Generative AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors, as they cannot assume responsibility for the content or meet accepted authorship criteria. The editorial team reserves the right to evaluate the appropriateness of AI use in accordance with the journal's ethical policies and prevailing academic standards.

Author Declaration: If Generative AI or AI-assisted technologies have been used in preparing the manuscript, authors must include a Generative AI Statement in the manuscript using the journal's prescribed format. This requirement does not apply to basic writing aids, such as spelling or grammar checkers, or reference management software. If no Generative AI or AI-assisted technologies were used, no declaration is required.

 

Manuscript Type

Egalita: Jurnal Kesetaraan dan Keadilan Gender accepts original research articles based on empirical studies, conceptual and theoretical analyses, and literature reviews addressing issues related to gender equality, gender justice, and children. The journal welcomes manuscripts that offer rigorous academic analysis and meaningful insights into gender-related issues, incorporating both scholarly perspectives and lived experiences.

All submitted manuscripts must be original, relevant to the journal’s focus and scope, and prepared in accordance with the journal’s author guidelines. Each submission undergoes an initial editorial assessment to determine its suitability for the journal. Manuscripts that meet the initial requirements may proceed to peer review to evaluate their academic quality, originality, methodological or theoretical rigor, and contribution to the advancement of knowledge in gender studies.
