Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' preferences for the Islamic Education Management Study Program (MPI) at STAIN Teungku Dirundeng Meulaboh by reviewing internal and external factors that influence their decisions. The research method used is mixed methods with a sequential explanatory design. The research population includes all active students of the MPI Study Program which amounts to less than 100 people, where quantitative samples are taken using the total sampling technique, while qualitative informants are determined purposively. Data were collected through Likert scale questionnaires and semi-structured interviews, then analyzed using descriptive statistics and data reduction. The results of the study show that student preferences are dominated by internal factors in the form of career orientation in the field of managerial and educational administration. Students choose this study program because of the perception that MPI's job opportunities are wider than the pure teacher training study program, where graduates are directed to become managerial personnel, not religious teachers. In addition, institutional factors such as the quality of digital services (SIAKAD) and status as a State University (PTN) also strengthen student decisions. Despite the obstacles in the form of social stigma, the massive promotion strategy and alumni empowerment are the key in maintaining the stability of student interests at STAIN Teungku Dirundeng Meulaboh.
