Focus and Scope
Jurnal Riset Mahasiswa Matematika (JRMM) publishes current research articles in various areas of mathematics, including but not limited to graph labelings, mathematical modeling, statistics, actuarial mathematics, optimal network problems, metric dimension, graph coloring, rainbow connection, and other related topics.
Subjects suitable for publication include, but are not limited to, the following fields:

Section Policies
Research Articles
All submissions to this journal are subject to a single-blind peer review process, in which reviewers are aware of the authors’ identities, but the authors do not know the identity of the reviewers. The review process is conducted confidentially to ensure the objectivity and quality of the published work.
Fast Track Review
This section is intended for manuscripts submitted through the Fast Track Review process, which offers an expedited review and editorial decision timeline compared to the regular submission route. All submissions will undergo rigorous peer-review process by at least two independent reviewers, but within a tighter deadline.
This option is recommended for authors who require faster publication due to academic deadlines, promotion requirements, or other administrative purposes.
Requirements for Fast Track submissions:
- The manuscript must meet the same quality and completeness standards as regular submissions.
- Authors must strictly follow the journal's template and author guidelines.
- A justification for choosing the Fast Track route must be provided in the "Comments for the Editor" section during submission.
- Any applicable additional fee for this service will be communicated by the editorial team.
The Editorial Board reserves the right to determine whether a manuscript qualifies for the Fast Track process based on urgency, quality, and technical readiness. The decision of the Editor is final.
Undergraduate Thesis (Final Project Papers)
This section contains undergraduate thesis manuscripts that have been approved by academic supervisors and examiners. It is intended specifically for students of the Mathematics Study Program, Faculty of Science and Technology, Universitas Islam Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, as part of the online documentation of final academic works.
Before submitting a manuscript, please ensure the following requirements are fulfilled:
- Carefully read and follow the author guidelines.
- Use the latest JRMM journal template, effective as of June 20, 2025.
- Complete all manuscript sections according to the format and structure specified in the template.
- Submit the manuscript as a compressed LaTeX source file (.zip) and attach the compiled PDF file as a Supplementary File.
- Ensure that the LaTeX source compiles without errors (no red warning messages).
- Complete the metadata with the following authorship structure:
- Student as the first author,
- First academic supervisor as the second author and corresponding author,
- Second academic supervisor as the third author.
- Provide active email addresses and institutional affiliations for all listed authors.
Final approval is made by the Editor listed in the system, following a review of the manuscript’s completeness and compliance with the journal's requirements.
Peer Review Process
Review Policy
Papers submitted to the Jurnal Riset Mahasiswa Matematika (JRMM) are reviewed by experts in mathematics from various universities. The review process generally takes approximately 2–4 weeks to complete. All manuscripts undergo plagiarism screening before being sent to reviewers.
Review Model: The JRMM uses a single-blind peer review model. In this process, reviewers know the identity of the authors, but authors do not know the identity of the reviewers. Authors are not required to anonymize their manuscripts before submission. However, they should avoid unnecessary self-promotion or language that could bias the review process.
To be considered for publication in this journal, a manuscript must meet the following criteria:
- It is an original work that has not been published previously and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
- It provides clear and strong evidence to support its conclusions.
- It is a result of research or a literature study in the field of mathematics.
- It is of potential interest to researchers in mathematics and related disciplines.
In general, to be acceptable, a manuscript should represent a significant advance in understanding and have the potential to influence thinking in the relevant field.
Quality and Transparency of the Editorial Process
The Jurnal Riset Mahasiswa Matematika (JRMM) is committed to maintaining a high-quality, fair, and transparent editorial process. The following procedures and service targets guide our editorial work from submission to publication.
1) Initial Screening
- Timeline: 3–5 working days from submission.
- Checks include: scope fit, completeness of submission files, adherence to author guidelines, and basic methodological soundness.
- Plagiarism screening is conducted before peer review.
- Manuscripts failing minimum requirements are returned to authors for correction before review.
2) Peer Review Workflow
- Manuscripts passing the initial check are assigned to a Handling Editor (HE) with relevant expertise.
- The journal uses a single-blind peer review model.
- At least two independent reviewers are invited for each manuscript.
- Target time for the first review round: 2–4 weeks.
- Decisions are based on reviewers’ comments and the editor’s evaluation: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject.
- Revised manuscripts are re-evaluated to ensure all required changes have been addressed.
3) Decision Communication
- All editorial decisions are communicated clearly, with reasons provided for rejections or revision requests.
- Authors are given a clear deadline for revisions (typically 1–3 weeks depending on the decision type).
4) Appeals and Complaints
- Authors may appeal decisions within 30 days by sending a reasoned request to jrmm@uin-malang.ac.id.
- Appeals are reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief or a senior editor not involved in the original decision.
- Ethics-related complaints are handled in accordance with COPE guidelines.
5) Production and Publication
- Accepted manuscripts proceed to copyediting and layout formatting.
- Authors review proofs before final publication.
- Target time from acceptance to online publication: 1–2 weeks.
6) Archiving and Preservation
- All published content is stored in the journal’s online system and institutional repository.
- Metadata is openly shared to support indexing and long-term preservation.
7) Service Level Targets (Indicative)
- Initial editorial check: 3–5 working days
- First-round peer review: 2–4 weeks
- Decision after review: ≤ 1 week
- Production after acceptance: 1–2 weeks

Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate open access to its content, based on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
All articles published in this journal are open access and will be immediately and permanently free for everyone to read and download. We work closely with our author community to select the most appropriate license options. Currently, articles are published under the following license:
Archiving
This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...
