Before Submission

Thank you for choosing to submit your paper to us. These instructions will ensure we have everything required so your paper can move through peer review, production and publication smoothly. Prior to submission, Please take the time to read and follow them the submission guidelines detailed below as closely as possible, as doing so will ensure your paper matches the journal’s require. Manuscripts that do not conform to the submission guidelines may be returned without review.

Before submitting make sure that your manuscript is suitable to the focus and scope of Psikoislamika: Jurnal Psikologi dan Psikologi Islam. Please see the journal's Focus & Scope for information about its focus and peer-review policy. This journal covers the following fields:

Manuscript can be based on empirical research, theoretical analysis and though, systematic review, and meta-analysis.

Cover Letter

Submission to Psikoislamika: Jurnal Psikologi dan Psikologi Islam should be accompanied by a cover letter to editor in chief. The cover letter should include the following information:

  • manuscript title
  • manuscript authors
  • assurances that all authors agree with the content of the manuscript and with the order of authorship
  • assurances that the corresponding author will take responsibility for informing coauthors of editorial decisions, reviews received, and any changes or revisions made
  • source manuscript
  • information about research data (in part or in whole) in manuscripts that are in its management with research data in other manuscripts, which have been or are being, either by other journals or this journal
  • notice of any conflicts of interest or activities that might be seen as influencing the research

Preparing Your Paper

 

Psikoislamika: Jurnal Psikologi dan Psikologi Islam is open for different types of manuscript based on research approach. Psikoislamika: Jurnal Psikologi dan Psikologi Islam follows APA Style Journal Article Reporting Standards (APA Style JARS) from Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association 7th Edition in structuring manuscript. APA Style JARS are a set of guidelines designed for journal authors, reviewers, and editors to enhance scientific rigor in peer-reviewed journal articles.

Using these standards will make the manuscript clearer and more accurate as well as more transparent for readers. For quantitative research, using the standards will increase the reproducibility of science. For qualitative research, using the standards will increase the methodological integrity of research.

If the manuscript reports a protocol

Use the SPIRIT guideline for the protocol of a clinical trial

Use the CONSORT guideline or one of its extensions:

If the participants were selected before they received the intervention/exposure/etc. under study, AND

The researcher controlled which intervention/exposure/etc. they each received, AND

The researcher used a random allocation to decide which intervention/exposure/etc. they each received.

ie: a randomised controlled trial

Use the STROBE guideline or one of its extensions:

If the participants were selected after they received the intervention/exposure/etc. under study, OR

The participants were selected before they received the intervention/exposure/etc. under study AND the researcher did not control which intervention/exposure/etc. they received (they decided/their doctor decided/life just happened)

ie: an observational study

Use the TREND guideline: 

If the participants were selected before they received the intervention/exposure/etc. under study, AND

If CARE, CONSORT, and STROBE are not applicable AND

A non-random way was used to decide which intervention/exposure/etc. the participants received, such as which hospital they went to or what their clinical symptoms were.

Although some details may differ, in general Psikoislamika: Jurnal Psikologi dan Psikologi Islam expects author(s) to submit manuscript that has common structure.

 

The early part of the both types of research (empirical and the result of thought) contains:

 

Title

Maximum of 15 words in English and Indonesian. The title should be concise and straightforward in describing the content of the article. May use creative titles to attract readers. The word influence, relationship, and case study should not be used within the title. 

Author Information

 

  • The name(s) of the author(s)
  • The affiliation(s) of the author(s), i.e. institution, (department), city, (state), country
  • A clear indication and an active e-mail address of the corresponding author
  • If available, the 16-digit ORCID of the author(s)

Abstract

Should be written in both English and Indonesian. Authors must supply a structured abstract in their submission, which includes; Purpose, Design/methods/approach, Findings/results, Implication. Please provide an abstract of 150 to 250 words. The abstract should not contain any undefined abbreviations or unspecified references (citation).

Keywords

Include 3-5 keywords or phrases, arranged in alphabetical order and separated using semicolons (;). Avoid using terms that are too general or long.

Introduction

TIntroduction provides adequate background or context (problem and its significance) of the study. The subject should not be written extensively. It is expected that rationale or purpose of the study (gap analysis), the objective in general and specific, and hypothesis (if any) should be expressed clearly. Present a clear "state of the art" of the subject, which discussed literature and theoretical concepts behind it. A concise general background may be included in the article. Present at least 5 (five) recent related works to support the novelty of the research and hypothesis. Categorize the article into one of the following: (1) Research article, (2) Psychology article, (3) Concept development, and (4) Case study. Avoid the use of secondary citations.

Methods

 

Consist of variable identification, research subject, instrument, and methods, including the statistical analysis technique used. Avoid directly quoting definitions from a book in the method section.

Results

Write results in logical sequence. Results with important findings should be present first. Present the outcome of the study. Use tables and figures whenever appropriate. Results should be able to answer the hypothesis.

Discussion

The section need to address connections between findings and basic concepts or hypothesis made earlier. Authors should also express whether any arguments were needed relating to other works from other researchers. Write implications made by the work related to theoretical or applications. This section should not be a repetition of the result section. Describe only new and important aspects of the study.

Conclusions and Implications

The conclusion should be linked to the title and objectives of the study. Do not make statements not adequately supported by your findings. Present limitations of the study. And give the suggestion for the next research. Write the issues that are new or unsolved, and give the suggestion for the future research, policy suggestions, etc. Do not make further discussions, repeat the abstract, nor only list the results of research results. Do not use bulleted points, use paragraphed sentences instead.

Acknowledgments

Acknowledgments of people, grants, funds, etc. should be placed in a separate section on the title page. The names of funding organizations should be written in full

Citation

Cite references in the text by name and year in parentheses. Some examples:

  • Negotiation research spans many disciplines (Thompson, 1990).
  • This result was later contradicted by Becker and Seligman (1996).
  • This effect has been widely studied (Abbott, 1991; Barakat et al., 1995; Kelso & Smith, 1998; Medvec et al., 1999).

Authors are encouraged to follow official APA version 7 guidelines on the number of authors included in reference list entries (i.e., include all authors up to 20; for larger groups, give the first 19 names followed by an ellipsis and the final author’s name). However, if authors shorten the author group by using et al., this will be retained.

The list of references should only include works that are cited in the text and that have been published or accepted for publication. Personal communications and unpublished works should only be mentioned in the text.

Reference list entries should be alphabetized by the last names of the first author of each work.

Journal names and book titles should be italicized.

If available, please always include DOIs as full DOI links in your reference list (e.g. “https://doi.org/abc”).

Please include a word count for your paper.

A typical paper for this journal should be between 5.000 and 8,000 words

 

Tables

  • All tables are to be numbered.
  • Tables should always be cited in text in consecutive numerical order.
  • For each table, please supply a table caption (title) explaining the components of the table.
  • Identify any previously published material by giving the original source in the form of a reference at the end of the table caption.
  • Footnotes to tables should be indicated by superscript lower-case letters (or asterisks for significance values and other statistical data) and included beneath the table body.

Artwork and Illustrations Guidelines

Electronic Figure Submission

  • Supply all figures electronically.
  • Indicate what graphics program was used to create the artwork.
  • For vector graphics, the preferred format is EPS; for halftones, please use TIFF format. MSOffice files are also acceptable.
  • Vector graphics containing fonts must have the fonts embedded in the files.
  • Name your figure files with "Fig" and the figure number, e.g., Fig1.eps.

Line Art

  • Definition: Black and white graphic with no shading.
  • Do not use faint lines and/or lettering and check that all lines and lettering within the figures are legible at final size.
  • All lines should be at least 0.1 mm (0.3 pt) wide.
  • Scanned line drawings and line drawings in bitmap format should have a minimum resolution of 1200 dpi.
  • Vector graphics containing fonts must have the fonts embedded in the files.

Halftone Art

  • Definition: Photographs, drawings, or paintings with fine shading, etc.
  • If any magnification is used in the photographs, indicate this by using scale bars within the figures themselves.
  • Halftones should have a minimum resolution of 300 dpi.

Combination Art

  • Definition: a combination of halftone and line art, e.g., halftones containing line drawing, extensive lettering, and color diagrams, etc.
  • Combination artwork should have a minimum resolution of 600 dpi.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).

  2. The submission file is in Open Office, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided
  3. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; with 1.15 spacing in Microsoft Word format with a page size A4 (210 x 297 mm); margin of the paper should be left: 3 top: 4 right: 3 bottom: 3,5 employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.

  4. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
