Analysis of Wireless Network Service Quality Using Network Performance Monitoring Method at PPSDM Regional Yogyakarta
Abstract
Abstract—Wireless networks have become the backbone of infrastructure in various sectors, including education, business, and public services. Advances in Wi-Fi and cellular network technology enable fast and reliable internet access without the physical limitations of cables. However, the increasing use of wireless networks poses significant challenges related to Quality of Service (QoS) that service providers and users must face. QoS in wireless networks refers to the ability of a network to provide adequate services according to certain parameters such as bandwidth, latency, jitter, and packet loss.
This case study was conducted at the Human Resources Development Center (PPSDM) Regional Yogyakarta. The purpose of this research is to identify and analyze the quality of the existing network services at PPSDM Regional Yogyakarta. This research uses the Network Performance Monitoring (NPM) method, a systematic approach to continuously collect, analyze, and visualize network performance data. NPM focuses on identifying performance issues in real-time and long-term trends, enabling proactive intervention. In this study, the implementation of NPM will utilize network monitoring tools such as PRTG Network Monitor or Zabbix to measure throughput, packet loss, delay, and jitter parameters.
From the research results, based on TIPHON standardization, the index value for the throughput parameter is 2, the packet loss parameter value is 4, the delay parameter value is 4, and the jitter parameter value is 3. The Quality of Service (QoS) measurement results for the network at PPSDM Regional Yogyakarta are in the Good category with a Quality of Service (QoS) percentage value of 81.25%.
Index Terms—Quality of Service, Network Performance Monitoring, Throughput, Packet Loss.
