Hubungan antara Konsumsi Gula dengan Tingkat Konsentrasi: Studi Analitik pada Siswa Madrasah Aliyah
Abstract
Background: Excessive sugar intake among adolescents is linked to metabolic and cognitive issues, including concentration. Objective: This study examined the association between sugar consumption and concentration levels in Madrasah Aliyah Pembangunan UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta students. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 63 students from grades 10 and 11. Sugar intake was assessed using a Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ) and a three-day food record, while concentration was measured with the Digit Symbol Substitution Test (DSST). Data were analyzed using Fisher’s Exact Test. Results: Most students reported normal–low sugar consumption frequency (88.09%) and intake within recommendations (79.30%). Good concentration levels were observed in 80.90% of students. No significant association was found between sugar consumption frequency (p=0.120) or daily intake (p=0.700) and concentration. Conclusion: Sugar intake within recommended limits was not associated with concentration levels. Further studies are required, considering other influencing concentration factors.
