The Civilizational Role of Yafa'i Scholars in Serving the Arabic Language: A Historical and Linguistic Study
Abstract
Our study examines the role played by the scholars of the Yafi' tribe and their scientific contributions to the service of the Arabic language during the first eight centuries of the Hijra.,From among them emerged writers, poets, and grammarians, who participated in the movement of authorship, explanation, and narration, and contributed to preserving the linguistic and poetic heritage across generations.,Some of them also participated in scholarly circles in Islamic centers of learning such as Egypt and Mecca.,In the field of poetry, the poets of Yafa were distinguished by the diversity of their poetic themes, such as pride, description, and praise, while adhering to the eloquent Arabic style and the traditional metrical patterns followed by the great poets.,Their poems reflected the social and cultural environment of the era in which they lived, and they contributed to enriching the literary movement in Yemen and the Arabian Peninsula, as well as the countries to which those scholars migrated, becoming key players in scientific and cultural councils, and an active part of the Islamic scientific and literary movement during those centuries.
